A blind girl hated herself for being blind. She hated everyone except her
boyfriend. He was always there for her. One day, she said “if only I could
see the world, I would marry you” .

One day, she received the gift of sight. When the bandages were taken off,
she could see the world and her boyfriend.

He asked her if she would marry him now that she could see the world. She
looked at him and saw that he was blind. She was devastated, she didnt
expect this at all and at the thought of having to look at him like this
for the rest of her life, she refused to marry him.

He was crying as he left her. The next day he wrote her a letter saying:
Take good care of your eyes my love, before they became yours, they were
mine.

When everything is going well, we forget what it was when things were not so
good and the people who helped us along the way and were there for us.

I usually trust what I see in store flyers or the ads on tv, but lately Ive noticed that if a certain store has an ad for down pricing their products, it means they actually jack up the price!!!!

Ive noticed this 2 wks ago when I needed to buy laundry detergent. I went to this well knows large surface store but they were out of the brand I wanted. Since I really needed the detergent, I went to another store. Surprise, the detergent I usually buy at the other store, was $2. less!!!!

Ive been paying attention since and ……..yes, everytime this large corporation advertise its price going down, they actually go up!!!

Ive also noticed lately that quantity has been shrinking but not the packaging nor the price. I had to buy bleach. I used to buy the 3L bottle for 99 cent. Well, the size of the bottle is the same, but the quantity is much less and the price has gone up! grrrr!!

Also, why do they keep changing products? Toothpaste. I use toothpaste at least 3 times a day. I always use the same brand, so it would be fair to say that I DO know what it tastes like, right? Well lately, it just doesnt taste the same. Did they change the recipe to save money and forgot to let us know the cosumers???

Blankets, I buy small blankets for my dog. I buy them at the same store, same packaging, been buying them for 5 yrs now and last week, I get home, open the package to wash the blankets……..they are smaller?!?!?

Do companies think we’re stupid and wont notice whats going on? It gets me so angry that I return the product and refuse to buy it again.

And its the same with nearly everything lately.

One more thing that has me in a very bad mood. I use haircolour. Ive been using the same colour on and off for a while. Its still advertised on the company site, its even advertised on tv……….yet you cant find it in any stores or drugstores. I called the company, they said this colour wont be available anymore. So why have a new advertisement on tv and why have it on their site also???

Oh its a mistake the girl said. Well *&%$$& to you I say.

What is the matter with companies lately? Does anyone know?

How to get your dog to listen to you.

To begin with, remember that when he’s a puppy, he doesnt understand one word you’re saying. So you must show him what you mean and ALWAYS use the same words for a specific action.

SIT: you want him to sit, well use the word SIT and nothing else. So, when he’s a puppy, you must put him in a sitting position, then you say the word SIT and you give him a treat. Repeat this and the first 3 or 4 times, you will have to manually SIT your dog so he knows that SIT means his bottom is on the floor.

Its basically the same for every command you want to give him. First show him what you want a few times, repeat the same word, not 3 or 4 words, but only A ONE WORD COMMAND and give him a treat.

You must be persistent and consistent with it.

Some say that dogs can only understand 50 words, well I dont believe this. My dog is nearly 5 yrs old and I now have to speak in another language so he wont understand some things………well guess what, he’s starting to understand “walk” in French, so I’ll have to use yet another language so he wont understand.

Trust me, dogs know what you say, they also know when you’re talking about them. I will talk about him, not use his name, but still he’ll come stand next to me.

Also, dont listen to what everybody says about you being in charge. If you want your dog to do something for a “good” reason, let him know, have him do it and give him a treat, telling him he’s a good boy/girl. Your dog wants to please you. He’ll do what you want if he knows it pleases you. Dont go into a power trip with your dog. You’re supposed to be the smart one to begin with, so why do you need to prove it?

I have a labrador, I was told they were the worst dogs for chewing everything around the house. Well yes he did try it when he was a puppy, but I kept at it, always saying NO, not loud, I dont scream at my dog, but he knows what “no” means. Then when he’d stop chewing, Id give him a treat, tell him he’s such a good boy and take him away from the spot he was chewing on……..but I kept my eyes on him because I knew he’d go back and sure enough, he did. But I was right there again, saying NO and pushing him away. It stopped after 3 times. He hasnt chewed anything since and he wont touch anything thats not on the floor either. He knows that whats on the floor can be his, but on a table, its mine!

When I mop the floor, I put his toys on a desk, well eventhough they’re his toys, he’ll whine for me to give them to him.

Ive never screamed at him, ive never hurt him. Persistence and love will have him do whatever you want him to.

Having a dog as a kid is not the same as when you decide to have one when you live on your own or with your partner.

There are things you didnt know had to be done for the wellbeing of your pooch that you now have to think about….like making sure your pooch has water all the time!!!

I bought a black labrador from my sister in law’s friend. He was only 6 wks old and maybe he was too young but its done now.

We missed some of the early signs, so my first advice to you is to pay attention. Our dog did ask for the door but we thought he was just sniffing around the place! About 5 minutes later, of course he made a mess.

We took him out then, but it was a bit too late. Nevertheless, he did do his thing outdoors and we praised him as being a good dog.

I didnt know at the time that you’ll get much more from your dog if you praise him and give him goodies instead of say he’s been a very bad boy.

Next, I had a dog trainer come over to show me how to train my dog. According to her, some rules had to be followed (dont follow them, they dont work). She started by telling me that I had to be the boss and let my dog know I was the boss. (BS!!) She had raw hotdog weiners and this is how she’d get him to follow her. I wasnt too keen on feeding my dog raw hotdog weiners.

Then she said you had to set his food bowl on the floor and give him 15 minutes to eat. If he didnt eat in 15 minutes, you take the bowl away. I tried this stupid idea of hers and my poor pooch was emptying his bowl in about 2 minutes…….then he’d throw it all up.

So……forget about dog trainers!!

What I do is find a treat he likes. When he’s a puppy, whenever he does his thing outdoors…..praise him, pet him and give him a treat.

If he does it indoors, just say no…bad boy!! Sometimes Id take his paw and slightly tap it with my finger. It didnt hurt him, but he didnt like the idea of having his paw handled. (he doesnt mind now). After a while, every time Id say he was a bad boy, he’d give me his paw so I could tap it lol.

Now for the food. He knows where I keep his food and when he’s hungry, he sits at the door. I give him his food and leave the bowl out until im positive he’s done. He’ll eat a little, then go walk around, come back and eat some more. ….but he always leaves some food in his bowl. (I throw it away)

Of course, I always have cold FRESH water out for him. I use glass bowl set in a plastic bowl. Why glass……because it washes better than plastic and bacterias wont grow on glass if you wash it. I wash his water bowl at least…..minimum once a day and I always make sure the water in his bowl is fresh….I change the water often in the course of the day.

Its not so bad to be hosting a small party, but when you’re from a large family, it can add up to you spending all the time at the stove.

Ive decided this year to ask for help.

Im cooking the main dish but others will be cooking also.

Some will bring the mashed potatoes, some the vegetables, some the salad and some the dessert.

I supply the house, main dish, drinks, coffee, tea and all that goes with hosting, but I dont have the time to do it all.

Its great to be able to ask the rest of the family to do something and then we can all enjoy our time in the kitchen to prepare the whole meal together.

This way, we can all sit at the table at the same time.

BUT, before we sit to eat, we must open the Champagne!!!! It wouldnt be New Year without it.

So I’ll need to make sure I have plenty of clean glass for everybody, we can then enjoy the bubbles and it help start the conversation at the table!

I do hope you all have a great New Year’s party with your family and friends. The important thing is to all be together and have a good time.

It’ll be the puurfect xmas for me and my family this year.

The party will be at my parent’s house, my brothers and sister will be there. We have the most interesting conversations when we’re all sitting around the table.

Ive missed those ever since the anti smoking law came in effect. Im a smoker and I refuse to go eat at a restaurant and have to go out to smoke. Id rather stay at home and order out.

So its been a while since we’ve all been together around a table. Im not the only smoker, there are 4 of us.

We’re all bringing some food, we’ll unwrap the gifts and then get the table ready for all of us. We always sit around the table for hours till late into the night, talking and still eating all over again.

There is never a quiet moment. We dont need games or music, we never run out of interesting subjects to talk about. We can voice our opinions and sometimes we argue, but its all done with respect.

We all know each other and I know how to get my brothers going on some subjects and this is the fun of it all. They do the same to me also and there I go, voicing my opinion and sometimes even wanting to prove im right haha!!

We’re all very close and its the only place I can feel like being myself, not being judge and able to say what I want without being afraid of hurting anyone’s feelings……and thats because if they’re not sure about something, they’ll ask me instead of think something.

I wish you all to be as comfy with your family as I am with mine……….smokers or not haha!!

Its not easy to get where you want to go when you have no idea how to get there.

First you need to KNOW what you want in “details”.

The best way is to actually SEE what you want. So, find pictures of what you want. If its a car, get as many pictures of the car you want in the color you want and stick it on a board that you’ll be able to see everyday.

I place my board next to my desk where I work so I can look at it all the time.

You can have as many pictures as you like on your board. The more the better.

If you want a new house, find a picture of the house you want and stick it on your board. If you want to lose weight, find a picture of yourself when you were at your purrfect weight and stick it on the board.

You can have many goals on your board. You can have your dream car, your dream house, your dream weight, your dream job and your dream man/woman!!

You must invest time in finding the right pictures and thats the secret…..you’ll be thinking about what you want and trying to find pictures to really represent your goal and it’ll work like magic.

The time you spend on finding the right pictures sends out a message out there to the Universe that THIS is what you want and you’ll get it.

Believe and it will happen.

Let me know when you get what you wished for……….but remember one thing, careful what you wish for because it will happen lol.

Have fun making your board, finding the pictures and soon you will have what you want.

How can you get the attention of someone you want to know better?

Being a woman, its essential to be dressed the right way and to look purrfect.

Wear a dress or a skirt, forget wearing pants, theres nothing sexy about a woman in pants unless they’re low cut jeans where you can show a little bit of skin.

So, lets stick with a skirt or dress. Not too short, but it must be above the knee. Men or women love to look at your legs and your legs will look at their best if you wear high heels. So try to avoid flat shoes or sneakers!!

Now the top, well you dont want to be wearing a turtleneck, if its cold, wear a scarf but have a little bit of cleavage to show your assets!!

Wear lipstick and mascara at least. If you can, do your face as best as you can.

Now the flirting can begin. The best way to let someone know you’re interested is with your eyes. Look at that person, try to make eye contact. Then smile, just a little smile to let the person know you’re interested.

Body language…..do not cross your arms, it means you’re not interested. You can cross your legs and uncross them as you are looking at the person. You can have your hand resting on your knee, maybe sort of caressing your thigh a little?

if you’re sitting, be sure you’re sitting straight……same if you’re standing, stand tall.

You can play with your hair a little if you have long hair, uncovering parts of your neck.

After your eyes have locked and you have smiled at the person you’re interested in, if that person doesnt come to you, you might want to go to them or find someone else to flirt with?

Whats important is that you enjoy yourself and dont take yourself too seriously!!

Meat pie for New Years you say??? How odd!!!

The first time I was served this as a guest to a friend’s house, I thought…..YUK, whats this? But, after the first bite, I was sold to this idea.

Its simply delicious and you can make this ahead of time, cook them and freeze them, then reheat in the oven before serving. How wonderful!!

Heres the recipe for 3 meat pies:

2 lbs Ground Veal
3 lbs Ground Pork
I small onion chopped finely
3 cloves of garlic or garlic salt (optional)
Salt and Pepper
3 Pie crusts (already made, store bought)

Put all the ingredients (except for the pie crusts of course) in a large pot, cover with water and simmer for about 30-45 minutes until the meat is thoroughly cooked.

Drain and reserve the broth for the sauce. Let the meat cool before filling the pie crusts.

Once the meat is cold, its time to fill your pie crusts. First sprinkle a little flour on the bottom crust, it’ll prevent the bottom crust from being mushy. Then spoon in the meat and cover with the top crust. Make a small hole in the center of the crust. Crack an egg in a small bowl and whisk with a fork, brush the egg over the crust for a golden crust.

Bake at 375F for 15 minutes, then at 350F until the crust is golden.

SAUCE:

Make a roux:

Use equal part butter and flour. Melt the butter in a large skillet on low heat, add the flour and stir constantly until the mixture darkens to a beige-brown color, about 15-30 minutes. Add the broth one spoonful at the time stirring constantly to the desired consistency.

Serve with carrots, mashes potatoes and peas. Heinz ketchup can be used instead of the sauce.

You get up one morning and you find that your water heater has leaked. What do you do?

First, you need to shut off the main water valve to the heater. Then you want to empty that big tank ASAP.

I had to use a garden hose, plugged at the bottom of the tank so it would empty into the sink in the bathroom. You can empty it wherever you want, for me, the sink in the bathroom was the closest.

Then you have to decide if you will buy a new water heater and install it yourself or buy it and have a plumber install it or the easiest of them all….call the plumber and let him find a water heater and install it.

I couldnt just call the plumber, no not me. I started calling all the stores that sell water heaters and found the store with the best price. Then I needed to find out how its done, what i needed to do the job. I added all this up and came up with a price. WOW!! its not cheap.

Then I called a plumber and asked what he would charge me to install a water heater. Well it came up to nearly the same price as if I would have done it myself. The added bonus was that he did leave with the old water heater, I would have had to drag it up the stairs, and outdoors so i could leave it out on the curb for the garbage truck.

Well I was happy to have someone do it for me for just a little bit more money.

He says this one should last me for at least 10 yrs, (same as the old one)

You dont know how important hot water is until you have to go without…….especially when its winter time!!

Now I can have a nice HOT bath……….purrfect!!!
